ZURICH TV NEWS: YOUNG SWISS PAIR DISTRIBUTE HANDLE HYGIENE
Two young men from Zurich want to ensure that Swiss door handles are free from viruses and bacteria. Nico Scholl and Florentin Fischer have, together with a third partner, are distributing an automatic door handle disinfection system for this purpose. A dirty door handle is a horror for Nico Scholl and Florentin Fischer. The solution: an automatic door handle disinfection system. Sounds complicated but is actually quite simple. Every time you close the door, it immediately sprays disinfectant on the door handle.
“It is actually a normal surface disinfectant. What’s special about it is that it does not contain any alcohol, which means that it’ll not damage the door covering or the door handle.” The product itself comes from Ireland. Together with a colleague, the two young entrepreneurs have acquired the exclusive right to sell the system in Switzerland, even though they do not yet have their own company. They are in the process of working on it but at the moment, everything is still provisional.
“We don’t have a real office yet – we have provisionally set up everything at the parents’ place and that’s where we are now.” It is a bit special: Florentin Fischer and Nico Scholl have known each other since the first class. When they were teenagers, they dreamed of starting a company together. However, it has only been clear since last autumn that hygiene is the issue.
I had to go to a public toilet and someone left the toilet without washing his hands. I was left wondering how I could leave the toilet now without touching the door handle.” When the corona crisis hit, it came to them as given as they knew that everyone in Switzerland was only talking about hygiene. One of their first customers was the florist, Hanspeter Meyer. The orchid seller has 30 employees. “First of all, it is very important that the door handles in the entire hygiene concept be clean. We have a lot of doors that are often left open but, for those that are closed again, it is very important that the door handles always be disinfected regularly.”
The young entrepreneurs refer to clinical studies from Ireland, which prove that door handles are much less contaminated with their spray, which is particularly effective in toilets.
